P.F. Chang’s Rock ‘n Roll Marathon

Completing this half-marathon was a culmination of many events, starting from the date of registration. Not just training five days a week for…well forever…but also the pre-race preparations, then the weekend festivities, then the sleepless night prior to the race (worried about waking up on time!).
Summarizing for posterity and for memory’s sake, the training included night runs, early morning trail runs, hill runs, and then the high-intensity training! No need to tailor WOD’s, they are truly a whole body work-out each time. We aren’t kidding when talking about core-to-extremity, functional movements. Strength training at it’s best, these are the most efficient work-outs. Every muscle is put to the test in a (generally) 15 minute period. You can’t really ask for more.
Then there’s the race week, shopping for matching hats, and Gu samples. I could write an entire book on Gu and the other varieties of energy supplements! Still unsure about whether or not the energy was needed or if the Gu provided any assistance. However, I know I made it though the entire race running, happy to beat my last time by ten minutes, and done before 10 am with the whole day ahead of me. That’s a good feeling.
